Another Death-Fest...But This Guy Is Worth It

I am so sick of the MSM turning itself into a Mourning Machine with non-stop 24-7 Obituary Specials that go on and on and on as though death is an event that happens only to very special public figures. But yesterday a very special public figure died and he deserves every minute of every memorial and retrospective the media can crank out. Because Johnny Carson made us laugh. Ronald Reagan did not make us roar with laughter. Oh well yes, he made Republicans smile and after he became noticeably incompetent he made everyone snicker behind his back. But that did not give him the right to a week of enforced public mourning from a meekly submissive news media. And the next President, ex-President or religious leader who dies will not deserve the shutting down of regular television programs for days on end to let the MSM faun and shed fake tears and be ponderous and pious and tiresome. But Johnny Carson deserves whatever time his death gets on TV. It will be a joy and privilege to remember and savor those moments on the Tonight show when for thirty years he made us fall out of bed laughing. Politicians might take note: If you can make us laugh as much as comics are making us laugh at the Bush administration...you might have a chance to heal this country and the world.
