Oh, the Lies They Tell

Truly, the Republicans will do anything. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) told a whopper on ABC’s Sunday morning show hosted by George Stephanopoulos (December 5). Frist who is an MD said that AIDS can be transmitted by sweat and tears. Not willing to let this false statement go without confronting it, George Steph finally got Frist to admit that this was so unlikely as to be impossible. This is the kind of misinformation that the GOP is promoting in our schools. But truth to tell, a lie like that only works in the Amen corner of the seriously ignorant faction of the GOP. It offends intelligent Repubs. Why the White House panders to their low-IQ gullible-sheep minority is a mystery. After getting the White House heave-ho on December 3rd...um...er...I mean after resigning his cabinet position, Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tommy Thompson said he was surprised our food supply hadn’t been hit by bioterrorists because it would be such an easy thing to do. His statement was picked up by all newswires around the world. Why did Tommy Thompson keep silent during his days as Cabinet Secretary? Why did he tacitly promote whatever lie the BushMen wanted to sanction? He’s a weenie, that’s why. Being a weenie is unfortunate...maybe it’s genetic and not the weenie’s fault. But weeniedom is not in the same category as a medical doctor such as Frist telling a lie about a medical condition in order to fortify a religious bias. And while we’re on the topic of White House medical sins, I have a question. The White House just announced that it is allowing a flu shot manufactured in Germany to be distributed in the US. This will cover the shortage caused by the government’s error in ordering flu shots from only one source, the Chiron lab in Liverpool England. This source turned out to have a contamination problem. The government is saying that it is making available flu shots manufactured in Germany which are “safe enough”. But since they come from outside the US, there are “risks”. Safe enough? Risks? What are the exact risks from getting a flu shot from Germany? What is safe enough? That’s what I’d like to know. We weren’t warned of any risks involved in getting a flu shot from Great Britain...although it turned out there were mega risks. What makes the German flu shot more risky than the Great Britain flu shot? Bush’s biggest asskisser is British PM Tony Blair. Does that make the English flu shot safe? Is the flu shot from Germany not safe because Germany is not in the ass-kissing Bushleague? Or, and this is a very real though ultimately sad possibility. Is the German flu shot riskier than the British flu shot because the Bushmaton doesn’t realize both Great Britain and Germany are in Europe? Newsflash to the Bushmaton: Great Britain is not part of the United States. Great Britain and Northern Ireland are in the United Kingdom. See, back in 1776....
